Client: A major natural gas and electric utility company on the west coast

Project Description: The project involved installing a new Gas turbine/compressor set, ancillary equipment, SACDA system, backup power generator, and a new building with the following key elements.

• Construction of a new turbine/compressor building and emergency back-up power generator.
• Installing a new gas turbine/compressor and all ancillary equipment.
• Installing upgraded supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for unmanned operation.
• Installing additional fencing and security measures to meet the requirements set forth in utility operations standard.
• Demolished existing building and disposal/recycling of materials.
• Removed and disposed of existing turbine/compressor and associated equipment.

Total Project Cost: $100M-$120M (Approx.)

Project Role: Accountable for overseeing and managing all facets of project controls, including:

• Creating project estimates
• Preparing and updating monthly project forecasts and schedules
• Managing project actuals and updating estimates at completion
• Providing explanations for forecast variances
• Calculating earned value KPIs and preparing executive RYG reports
• Managing vendors and vendor invoices, including review and approval
• Overseeing budget management and funding authorization
• Managing project risks, including updating the risk register and change logs
• Tracking commitments and managing change orders

Project Outcome: Executed comprehensive project controls processes and systems, ensuring confidence in project costs and timelines. Our proactive measures allowed the client to identify and mitigate risks, resulting in a successful project outcome.
